Viola Concerto in C minor (Edition for Viola [Violin/Cello] and Piano)

Johann Christian Bach's' Concerto in C minor has become one of the most popular viola repertory pieces. The piece is however not by J.C. Bach at all, but rather a well-intentioned fabrication of the Casedesus brothers Henri and Marius. Henri Casadesus was an outstanding violist and presented this concerto in 1916 as a new discovery by J.C. Bach. It was subsequently revealed to be an invention of Casadesus himself, 'inspired' by J.C. Bach sources. This edition contains a piano reduction and offers the possibility of performance by viola, cello or violin, containing separate parts for these instruments.

Mit seiner Kantabilität und seinem mitreiÃenden Schwung zählt dieses Violakonzert heute mit Recht zu den beliebtesten Werken dieses Genres. Der Erstdruck der Komposition erschien 1916 unter dem Namen von Johann Christian Bach. Doch wie man heute weiÃ, handelte es sich um ein Falsifikat aus der Feder von Henri Casadesus. Dem vorliegenden Klavierauszug liegen zusätzlich eine Violin- und eine Violoncellostimme bei.
