Die Spuren der Berliner Mauer sind heute aus dem Stadtbild größtenteils verschwunden. In einem aufwändigen Projekt wurden für dieses Buch zu Fotografien der DDR-Grenztruppen Vergleichsbilder aus dem modernen Berlin gemacht. Ergänzt durch Luftaufnahmen aus der Zeit vor und nach dem Mauerfall entsteht so ein einzigartiges Panorama der Berliner Mauer, anhand dessen man den historischen Wandel im Stadtbild konkret nachvollziehen kann.

Today the remains of the Berlin Wall have more or less disappeared. This book is the result of an extensive
project using photographs taken by GDR border troops in 1988 and 1989 and comparing them with
photographs of modern Berlin. Aerial photographs from the same periods complement the collection to
make a unique panorama of the Berlin Wall and enable the reader to trace the historic change in the Berlin
cityscape.
